5 Amazing Ways to Draw Closer to God
5 Amazing Ways to Draw Closer to God
#1. The first and foremost amazing way of Drawing Closer to God is having faith in God. Hebrew 11:6 states "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him. "
One may ask what is faith? Hebrew 11:1 (KJV), "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen." In other words having faith in God that whatever you are hoping for (manifesting in the spiritual realm), will happen in the (physical realm). You will be able to see and experience it in your life.
Example: Let's take a look at a farmer who wants to grow some big beautiful juicy red tomatoes. Even though the farmer has tomato seeds... the substance of things hoped for is big beautiful juicy red tomatoes to eat! So those scrumptious tomatoes has to manifest in the spiritual realm, and he believing it will happen to the point where he/ the farmer (takes action). The farmer prays to God for guidance. Upon following God's instructions he picks the right season to plant the tomato seeds, the right soil to till, planting the seeds, and watering the seeds as needed. The farmer has done what was required of him, and praying to God along the way in faith for the manifestation of the big beautiful juicy red tomatoes to become his reality. After the first phase of planting, the farmer must allow the second phase to happen (time to past) in order to reap the harvest. With Expectation (evidence of things not seen), big beautiful juicy red tomatoes will come to past...Glory be to God!
RECAP: You must have faith in God and believe that He exists, and he who earnestly seek him will be rewarded... So how does one seek after God? This bring us to the second amazing way of Drawing Closer to God.
#2. Psalm 145:18 "The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon him in "truth."
One way of calling upon God is through prayer. When we pray to God and call upon his name and he hears us, and answers our prayers, when it lines up with His character... We must go to him with a pure and sincere heart... not with a heart of half truths. God wants the whole truth of why we are seeking him. We must understand, the divineness of our Heavenly Father already knows about all things and everything there is to know. The term for this is "Omniscient." God is Omniscient... all knowing. When you go to God in prayer with a sincere heart, and trusting him by pouring out your heart before him in truth, He will draw nearer to you as you obey him. At his timing God will bless you according to His will for your life.
RECAP: First, One must have "Faith" in the LORD and believe that He Exists.
Second: One must Call upon Him in "truth," and with a Sincere Heart.
#3. The third Amazing Way of Drawing Closer to God is ... Draw Near to God and let your Request be known to him.
One way of doing this is just like scripture says in James 4:8, which states "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." Whatever the situation is in your life, God can see you through. There is nothing too hard for God to do. When trouble or situations appear in our lives we often seek other counsel first; whether it be a spouse, parent, relative, pastor or a friend and we usually seek God last when he should be the first one to go to! I, myself have been guilty of this as well until I started realizing that God wants us to seek the kingdom of his, and his righteousness first, and all these things will be added to you, (Matthew 6:33). One must draw near to God first. There are many ways to draw near to God such as through prayer, meditation, praise and worship, biblical reading, dance, music, etc. God is waiting to hear from you. He will draw near to you when you seek him in truth. Just be yourself and allow the relationship to develop or grow stronger. You will feel the love of God pouring out upon you. Just believe in the power of God and things will began to change in your life. God knows what is best for you and you can be sure he will give you his best! So make drawing nearer to God a part of your daily routine and the more you do so the closer God will draw near to you... praise God!
But we can't forget about the last part of #3 where it says "Let your request be known to him." Once you have drawn near to God now it's time to let your request be known to him... One of my favorite ways is by practicing Philippians 4: 6-7 which states, "Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication and with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Recap: First, One must have "Faith" in the LORD and believe that He Exists.
Second: One must Call upon Him in "truth," and with a Sincere Heart.
Third: Draw Near to God and let your Request be known to him.
#4. The fourth amazing way of drawing closer to God is by, "Thanking God for all what he has done and will do for you in the past, present, and future."
Psalm 136:1 states, "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever." One can look back over his/her life and find many reasons to give God thanks, whether it be bringing them through sickness, protecting them from danger, making a way out of no way, turning their child back to the Lord, or blessing them by honoring their prayer request; one can fill in the blank _______ because the list can go on and on and on. That's why it very important to give God thanks for all he has done and will do because his love endures forever... he is worthy to be praised!
Recap: First, One must have "Faith" in the LORD and believe that He Exists.
Second: One must Call upon Him in "truth," and with a Sincere Heart.
Third: One must Draw Near to God and let your Request be known to him.
Fourth: One must thank God for all what he has done for you in the past, present, and future.
#5. The fifth amazing way of drawing closer to God is by, "Sharing your testimony with others of what God has done for you."
Mark 5:20 states, "So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed." Sometimes we know the struggles of others and sometimes we don't know the struggles of others, but either/or we should always share the good news of how God has blessed us by bringing us through our trials and tribulations. God knows who needs to hear a word/ testimony and he will line your testimony up with the person/s who needs to hear it. We just have to be willing to share to good news about what the Lord has done for us because it will be a blessing to the one/s that hear it. Praise God!
